Whitbread Round the World Race 1997-98: The Whitbread Round the World Race of 1997-98 was a mult-person sailing race made up of 10 yachts, sailing 9 legs, with no in-port races. The first race where all the boats were in the W60 class. It also marked the change to a points vs time scoring system (instead of aggregate leg time) to enhance the value of the shorter race legs.
