Background information

Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15: The Volvo Ocean Race of 2014-15 was a mult-person sailing race made up of 7 yachts, sailing 9 legs, with an additional 10 in-port races. For the first time, all the boats in the race had the same design - the Volvo Ocean 65 which was designed by Farr Yacht Design in response to concerns about safety and cost. The Volvo Ocean Race ensures a minimum of eight boats are built. The aim was to reduce participation cost to around 15 million euros per entry. The boats are maintained by a common team, The Boatyard. They manage the spares, repairs, and maintenance for all the teams. For more information see This Wikipedia page.
