Donald Trump depicted himself as the Pope in 2025: On May 2nd, 2025, the official White House social media accounts posted a photo of President Donald Trump dressed as the Pope, just weeks after Pope Francis died (Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, previously the archbishop of Buenos Aires).

The image was posted a few days after Trump joked to media: "I'd like to be Pope. That would be my No. 1 choice." when he was asked who he'd pick to be the new Pope.

Reactions to Trump posting a picture of himself as the Pope

The New York State Catholic Conference said in a post on social media: "There is nothing clever or funny about this image, Mr. President. We just buried our beloved Pope Francis and the cardinals are about to enter a solemn conclave to elect a new successor of St. Peter. Do not mock us."
